February Featured Board Member: Mike St. Onge 

Mike’s connection with the Club began when he was a Club kid at the Pinardville Boys Club. The Club became the go-to afterschool hangout space for him and his friends. He has many fond memories from his time as a Camp Foster camper, and then a Counselor in Training. After graduating, he lost touch with the Club for a few years but never forgot the impact this organization had on him as a young man. Thanks to an unexpected invitation to a Boys & Girls Club event, his connection to the Club was immediately rekindled. Mike decided at that moment that he wanted to get more involved with the BGCM, so he set up a time to come tour the Club. He was excited to see so many familiar faces from his youth, like Ken Neil, Dick Jarvis, Brian Tremblay and so many more!

As he walked through our building, he was moved seeing the ways in which our services had expanded. It excited Mike knowing that we weren’t just an afterschool hangout spot, but had grown into a resource for the entire family unit. He loved seeing how many new programs we offered, such as Performing Arts, the Zen Den, STEM, Art and so much more!

Upon joining BGCM’s Board of Directors, Mike has jumped right in and become incredibly involved with our Club & our kids. He has served family dinner at our Club events, been an attentive audience member at our poetry readings, judged our Youth of the Year competition, and even dressed as the Grinch to bring smiles to our kids during the holidays! His involvement is unwavering, and his leadership has been transformational for our organization. Mike now serves as the Vice Chair of BGCM’s Board, and continues to be a Champion for the Club and our kids.
